Is the end of the world at hand?

US preacher warns end of the world is nigh: 21 May, around 6pm, to be precise

Preacher Harold Camping has been broadcasting his Doomsday predictions around the world.  I decided to ask the horary question, “Will the world end on May 21st of 2011 as this preacher predicts.  My analysis of the horary chart is at

I also did a tarot reading.  Choosing the Judgement trump (XX) as the significator of the end of the world on May 21, 2011, I shuffled the deck while pondering the question.  I then looked for which card flanked trump XX when the shuffling was done.  Not surprisingly, the Judgement card was surrounded by the 7 of Cups and the 7 of Swords.  I read this as the preacher’s fanciful thinking and his desire to spread an eccentric dogma about judgment day.  No, the world will not end on May 21st.  Neither the horary chart nor the tarot reading agree with the preacher’s gloomy prediction.

  1. It’s Sunday morning May 22, 2001, and the world is still intact. I guess the tarot was correct and the “rapture” did not occur yesterday. A lot of fundamentalist believers must be very disappointed.

Sneak-thievery and an alcoholic or drug induced haze would seem to classify most of their delusions. Jesus stated that no man shall know that hour, but the father in heaven. The Tarot cards are right on track.

I wonder, Anthony, …what astrology chart would have said, “Yes, he’s right…” What alignment of planets and signs would make you think that? And as for the Tarot, I can’t find any cards or spread that I can make into a “tomorrow’s the day” sort of reading. I have seen some pretty miserable spreads point out some pretty miserable events in people’s lives, but a spread for Gaia that says it’s over? I can’t imagine it. And I’m glad I can’t. (grin)

    • Paris,

Good question. I can only speculate about the type of chart that might indicate the end of the world. Since the 4th house is final endings and the 8th is death, they would probably be involved. There would have to be active malefics like Mars, Saturn, and probably Pluto too. Saturn would probably be retrograde in a sign of his debility like Leo, Cancer, or Aries. There would likely be significant squares and oppositions among these planets and also involving the ruler of the Ascendant. In addition, the particularly malefic fixed stars would be active and also some of the more dire Arabic parts.

This is a good exercise. When I hear something striking on the news, I often speculate about what the chart should look like to correlate with such and event, and then I cast the chart to see what is actually going on. This is a great way to learn astrology and to get deeper insights into current events.

      Take care,

    Take a look at this:
    Blood Red Lunar Eclipse
Contrary to some Internet chatter, the moon’s vivid red hue was not necessarily the result of ash from the erupting Puyehue volcano, high in Chile’s Andes, according to Sydney Observatory astronomer Geoffrey Wyatt.
“We can’t say for sure,” he said.
“The red colour is not caused by dust in the atmosphere. What dust does is extinguish colour and make it look darker.”
