Dominique Strauss-Kahn is a lucky man. He was released from house arrest on Friday July 1, 2011 because the hotel maid who accused him of attempted rape was found to have lied to a grand jury and to have made other false statements. As an astrologer hearing this news, I could not help thinking that he must have to thank his lucky stars, and sure enough Jupiter – the Greater Benefic, the planet of good fortune – is smiling on his chart. The news broke on June 30, 2011, that the case against Strauss-Kahn was near collapse, so let’s look at a chart for that date superimposed on his birth chart. Because his time of birth is not known, I will use a sunrise horoscope.
Just as expected, transiting Jupiter is crossing over his natal sun as the sex assault case against Strauss-Kahn is collapsing. The timing of the conjunction was most likely on June 29, one day before the news broke in the press. The Jupiter/Sun conjunction occurs only once in every 12 years and marks a time of abundance and good fortune. His Jupiter/Sun conjunction is occurring exactly at the time the case against him is being severely challenged by the prosecutors. It is hard to imagine better luck. In addition, Jupiter will cross over his natal Venus on July 13, 2011 (this also occurs once in every 12 years). It too is an aspect of luck and good fortune, which also correlates with abundant sexual opportunities. Venus is the “lesser Benefic” and the goddess of love, and Jupiter is the “greater Benefic” and the lecher of Mount Olympus. The first two weeks of July, 2011, are perhaps his luckiest two weeks in the past 12 years (astrologically speaking).
It is truly amazing how astrological timing plays itself out in news events.
This post is a follow-up to my previous discussion of his solar return for this year, which warned of involvement in a scandal.
