I came across an interesting site that sells futures on various candidates prospects for winning their party’s nomination. Click here to see Newt Gingrich’s site. At the same time it occurred to me that this could be treated as a horary question, so I cast a chart for the moment I looked at the site and used Regiomontanus houses with the idea that this astrological chart might provide some clues to whether his party will choose him to run for president. Here is the chart, cast for Dec 23, 2011, at 6:10 AM when I read the Intrade site about Gingrich:
”]Because this is a chart for the moment I read the prediction market Intrade site for whether Gingrich would get his party’s nomination, I assumed the Ascendant and 1st house would represent Gingrich and the 10th house would signify the nomination.
If so, Gingrich is signified by Jupiter, ruler of the ASC, by the Moon conjunct the ASC, and by the Sun in the 1st house. The nomination is signified by Venus, ruler of the MC, and possibly by Saturn at the end of the 10th house, exalted in Libra and almuten of the 10th. Because it took me a minute to calculate the chart, Saturn may really be in the 11th house (given the 5 degree rule for house cusps).
Newt’s possible rulers (Jupiter, Moon, Sun) are not applying to Venus, ruler of the nomination, nor are they applying to Saturn at the end of the 10th house. The Moon will eventually sextile Saturn but it is not within orb. The Sun is separating from a sextile to Saturn, suggesting that he has less support and is moving away from rather than toward the nomination. The Moon is about to square Mars, which rules the end-of-the-matter 4th cusp.
There isn’t much in this chart to support Gingrich getting the nomination, and it looks like his support is diminishing. It will be interesting to see how things play out.
Addendum: January 22, 2012 — Gingrich did extremely well in South Carolina on 21 January 2012, which gives him a better chance of winning the nomination. The Intrade site still prefers Romney as the eventual winner, which is in accord with the above horary chart. Time will tell.
Addendum #2: April 26, 2012 — According to news reports, “Newt Gingrich is expected to withdraw next week [on Tuesday May 1, 2012] from the US Republican presidential contest, two advisers to the former speaker of the House of Representatives have said.” In looking at the above horary chart, the timing of Gingrich’s withdrawal coincides with transiting Uranus (sudden disruptions, separation, divorce) crossing the IC (end of the matter) of the horary chart. (Transiting Uranus conjunct the horary IC becomes exact the morning of Thursday, May 3, 2012.) Uranus is the modern ruler of his Aquarius 3rd house of news and communications, so around May 3rd we can expect a communication about the end of the matter.
