On the day of the recent solar eclipse (10 May 2013) I noticed a story by Ray Slover in Sporting News:
Tim Tebow blackballed? Sensational headlines in story of unwanted QB
Tim Tebow is an NFL free agent after being released by the New York Jets. Although a solid citizen, he is an unwanted player who has no immediate value as a starting quarterback. Is that why media sources are floating stories about Tebow being “blackballed”? An opinion piece by Michael Silver of Yahoo! Sports broached the subject under the head: Tim Tebow blackballed by NFL teams because of cult-like following, media frenzy.
Naturally I wondered whether this headline might be symbolically related to the effect of the current eclipse on Tebow’s chart, so I cast a sunrise chart for his birth place (time unknown) and superimposed the eclipse at that location around it:
A few things immediately stood out:
- The solar eclipse falls on his natal sunrise Midheaven and closely squares his natal Venus and Sun, which are part of a natal Mercury-Venus-Sun-Mars stellium in Leo. Venus rules his natal MC of career in the sunrise chart.
- Transiting Venus, which rules the eclipse and his MC, has just changed signs from Taurus to Gemini, suggesting a significant change in his career.
- Transiting Jupiter, the other transiting planet in his 10th of career, applies to oppose natal Uranus in Sagittarius in the 5th. This becomes exact on May 26, 2013, and usually marks a time of significant career change. Jupiter, debilitated in Gemini, is associated with cults and religions. Does its opposition to natal Uranus in Sagittarius in the 5th house of games and romance symbolize his cult-like following? Solar fire says of this configuration: “This transit can indicate a sudden and dramatic change in your life ranging from simply a break in your routine to a breakdown in a relationship, career or way of life. On the one hand you feel a strong urge for a change of scenery, but on the other hand you feel rattled at the thought of breaking new territory. In some cases you may feel that there are obstacles, in the form of responsibilities to other people, which are holding you back. Either way it is time to ponder on your life and use this time to free yourself of restrictions. You will be grateful for the new-found freedom in the end.”
- Transiting Saturn of the eclipse chart exactly conjoins natal Pluto in Scorpio the 3rd house of communications. This is probably the most powerful current factor in his chart. What better symbolism for difficulties caused by a media frenzy than Saturn conjunct Pluto in the 3rd? Solar Fire delineates this transit as follows: “The earth moves during this transit. Areas of your life which you thought were stable and reliable start to change, putting everything in a new light. This can be a bit destabilizing, particularly if you do not enjoy the challenge of the process of change. However, if you can steer a positive course, it is ultimately rewarding. This transit is good for clearing out the old in order to bring in the new, a bit like renovating an old house.” (As an aside, in the summer of 2011 transiting Saturn conjoined natal Pluto in a friend’s chart with Scorpio on the 12th cusp. The week the conjunction became exact he had an emergency hospitalization for a collapsed lung which left him barely able to breathe until he received treatment. He will never forget Saturn crossing his natal Pluto. Trying to breathe with a collapsed lung is probably a good metaphor for this transit of Saturn over natal Pluto.)
As so often happens, the astrological symbolism is right on target. Tebow is dealing with transiting Saturn crossing his natal Pluto and a solar eclipse squaring his natal Sun, MC-ruler, and stellium in Leo.
